OnStar and Verizon are debuting a prototype Buick LaCrosse at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that offers a range of futuristic technologies. The spy-tech features include cameras that monitor activity around the car which can be viewed from a smartphone and a computer, and an impact-detection system that can replay a video clip of fender-benders. There also are enhanced voice commands to access Web sites, including YouTube, Twitter and Wikipedia, and an electronic owner's manual for the car that's streamed onto the dashboard.

One in six drivers 'top 100mph'

ONE IN SIX (17%) of drivers admits to driving at more than 100mph on the motorway regularly in the UK, even though the speed limit is 70mph. More than twice that number (38%) own up to driving at above 90mph, while 11% say they speed at 50mph or more in residential and urban areas where there is a 30mph speed limit. Research by Direct Line shows 61% of drivers have also exceeded the 20mph limit.

Ironstone concours continues tradition of cars, giving in Northern California

Sixteen years ago, a California farming couple with an interest in classic cars decided to host a concours to benefit local children's groups. It's a grassroots tradition they've continued, as Gail and John Kautz are again staging the Ironstone Concours d'Elegance car show, on Sept. 26 at the Ironstone Winery.
